Doing Awesome

Besides having a totally awesome time at our events, at the heart of SuperPirates is a mission to inspire your children to be the most totally awesome versions of themselves. If we’re going to champion that, we figure we better set the example as a totally awesome company too! Here’s how.

THE RUNES of AWESOME

What do we think makes someone totally awesome? We’ve broken it down into four totally awesome powers, each one playfully represented by a Rune - The Runes of Awesome.

Creativity: original ideas, turning ideas into things, thinking outside the box.

Curiosity: asking questions, experimenting and exploring, developing skills and knowledge.

Courage: challenging fears in order to grow, to show your authentic self, to do the right thing instead of the easy thing.

Kindness: being kind to oneself, to others and to the planet.

If you send your children to our clubs or events, they may occasionally come home covered in stickers. Now you know what they mean.

School Assemblies

If you’re a school, we’re offering free inspirational assemblies.
We communicate with children in a fun and engaging way a very important message - what it means to be a totally awesome kid and human being! We get kids thinking about: what it means to be a hero, how failing to succeed is a process and not an outcome, and we explore the philosophy behind our way of awesome. Get in touch to arrange a visit.

NO PROFIT WITHOUT A PLANET

We are challenging ourselves to reduce our footprint by making greener choices.

Where we provide food at our clubs, we choose vegetarian. High-quality and responsibly sourced meat is prohibitively expensive. We prefer to invest in offering more local produce and sticking to fresh fruits and vegetables. The science is also clear: meat consumption in humans is too high for the planet to sustain. We’re doing our bit to reduce this. When it comes to bringing packed lunches to clubs, we are absolutely fine for your children to eat according to your choice as family. In fact, we haven’t actually told the kids we don’t provide meat at clubs. We don’t preach about it and it seems nobody ever noticed it came off the menu.

We try to use resources that have low impact on the environment. Where possible we’ll use all-natural resources in arts and crafts. We use paper tape instead of sellotape. If we do use any non recyclable materials, we’ll have purchased them at Scrapstore - a charity that collects commercial waste and then provides it to companies such as ours to make fun things with!

TREES OF AWESOME

We’re planting trees with our awesomeness by supporting teamtrees.org.

As children earn ‘Runes’ in our after school clubs (our reward badges for showing courage, kindness, creativity and curiosity), we make a 25 penny donation. Every £1 buys a tree. Needless to say, when children earn their Runes for being awesome, they feel double good because their awesomeness also planted a tree!

We’ve planted 105 trees so far.

The AWESOME FUND

We want SuperPirates to be accessible to everybody. The ‘Awesome Fund’ is a pot of money we put aside so that we can organise free events for charity and community groups. We use the budget to send our team out to do what they do best, at no cost to the charity or community.

Donations pay our team to provide entertainment and bring joy to those that need it most.  SuperPirates as a company takes no profit from money donated, nor do donations cover the cost of any ‘admin’; all funds cover direct wages at events.

Current pot for events: £455

We’ve recently supported:
Bath Welcomes Refugees, Julias House Hospice.

Sponsorship

Cypress Hughes is 14 year old Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athlete local to Bath. We sponsor him, helping his family to sustain the cost of getting him to competitions around the country. He’s as real talent, and with the right support we’re certain he’ll realise his potential to become a world champion in his craft!

We are proud sponsors Larkhall under 8’s.
